An FBI agent was carjacked by two armed suspects in Washington, DC, with the vehicle being located a mile from the scene.
There has been a surge in violent crime in Washington, with carjackings up 111% in the first ten months of 2023.

“Violent crime in Washington has also been on the rise this year, up more than 40% compared with last year.”
“The tragic incident is representative of the soaring crime and the District’s bewildered justice system,” the report added.
The majority of those arrested in carjacking cases are under 18 years old, and there has been reluctance to prosecute these cases.
A 13-year-old with nine previous carjacking and robbery charges was fatally shot during an attempted carjacking of a federal officer.
