Democratic Rep. Hakeem Jeffries of New York voted “present” on a resolution condemning antisemitism, alongside 92 other Democrats.
The resolution passed by a 311-14 vote.
Jeffries, who faced criticism for speaking at a pro-Israel rally, did not release a statement or respond to inquiries. (Trending: Joe Biden Admits He’s ‘Not Sure’ About Running If Trump Wasn’t)
The resolution condemned antisemitic acts, including chants praising Hamas and cited specific incidents of violence.
Jeffries had previously defended individuals making antisemitic statements in an article he wrote while in college.
“Dr. Jeffries has challenged the existing white supremacist educational system and long-standing distortion of history,” Hakeem Jeffries wrote.
“His reward has been a media lynching complete with character assassinations and inflammatory erroneous accusations.”
