In Pennsylvania, a significant number of Democrats are switching their party affiliation to Republican, with 35,589 Democrats reregistering as Republicans compared to 15,622 Republicans switching to the Democratic Party.
This trend is seen as a reflection of dissatisfaction with President Biden’s policies and the economy, with a particular shift among blue-collar Democrats in the state.
The state’s voter registration data also shows a substantial number of voters disassociating themselves from party affiliation. (Trending: Could Taylor Swift Save Biden In 2024?)
Pennsylvania, a crucial swing state, will have 19 electoral votes in 2024, and recent surveys suggest a close race between Biden and Trump.
Nathan Benefield, senior vice president of the Commonwealth Foundation, said, “By all the polling, Joe Biden is unpopular here.”
“Voters are saying they’re not happy with Bidenomics and the economy, and I think that’s reflected in the registration and some of the voting patterns,” he continued.
“Whether Trump and Biden are at the top of the ticket or not, I do think it’s going to be pretty much one of the closest states next year,” added the think tank executive.
