Elon Musk has faced numerous challenges over the past year, including significant advertiser losses on the platform formerly known as Twitter (now X), legal battles with the SEC and watchdog groups, and backlash over controversial changes to the platform.
Musk’s acquisition and subsequent changes to the platform led to advertiser pullback, financial losses, and criticism over content moderation policies.
He also faced legal disputes with organizations monitoring hate speech and antisemitism. (Trending: Donald Trump Breaks His Silence After Major Court Win)
Additionally, X faced scrutiny over its response to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and allegations of antisemitism, leading to major companies halting ad spending on the platform.
“Since the acquisition, The @ADL has been trying to kill this platform by falsely accusing it & me of being anti-Semitic,” Musk said.
“To clear our platform’s name on the matter of anti-Semitism, it looks like we have no choice but to file a defamation lawsuit against the Anti-Defamation League … oh the irony!” Musk said.
“We appreciate X’s stated intent over the last few weeks to address antisemitism and hate on the platform,” ADL stated.
“This has been useful; more needs to be done; and, as we have with other companies, in the spirit of collaboration, we are hopeful that we can continue to engage with X on this important matter,” it added.
“If someone is going to try and blackmail me with advertising, blackmail me with money, go f— yourself,” Musk said at a Summit.
“Go f— yourself. Is that clear? Hope it is.”
Musk’s outburst against advertisers further complicated the situation, potentially impacting the platform’s standing with advertisers.
