Al Franken, who resigned from the U.S. Senate amid sexual misconduct accusations, is set to play a U.S. Senator in a new Netflix series called The Residence.

The show, produced by Shonda Rhimes’s Shondaland, faced delays and casting changes, including the recasting of the lead role with Giancarlo Esposito.

The series revolves around a scandalous murder in the White House and the subsequent investigation.

Franken will portray a Washington State Senator in the show.

Despite its rocky road to production, the series is expected to be released on Netflix in 2025.
